starting my morning off right

January 29, 2018

since the new year i’ve been making a point to wake up a little earlier, make myself some tea, and spend a little time resting in God’s word. i can honestly say i’ve seen an improvement in my weeks. i wouldn’t say that i am a negative person, i’m actually always pretty optimistic, but focusing on positive “i am” statements rather than negative ones has also been something i have been working on too.  the first words out of my mouth when i wake up are usually “i’m so tired” even if i’m not that tired. it’s just easier to say negative statements out loud, you typically don’t hear people walking around saying “i’m so awake!”, and if they did, people would look at them a little funny.. which is sad but true. however, i’ve really been trying to rewire my thinking, instead of waking up saying that i’m tired or that i’m not looking forward to the work week, i’ve been saying that today is going to be a good day and i focus on one thing about each day that i’m looking forward to. i read in a magazine recently that you should ask yourself three questions each morning; 01: what will make me feel healthy today? 02: what will make me feel connected today? and 03: what will give me a sense of purpose today? so in my quiet time each morning i’ve spent some time dwelling on each question. it doesn’t sound like much, but it’s really has made a difference, i’ve just learned how important it is to make sure we are starting our days off right. “do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. this will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones” proverbs 3:7-8
